Found Out Some Sad News

ladymidathSteve and I found out that Steve's former boss Andrew passed away. It was not very nice the way we found out as well. Steve had been Andy's manager for his removal business a few years ago when Steve could still work. Andy got cancer at the back of his tongue that quickly spread to his throat. Steve managed the company for him and we visited him in hospital and often went to his flat in Randwick to check on him and make sure he was all right. He recovered from that cancer, then developed a whole new one on the side of his neck. Once again steve took over the business and ran it until Andy recovered. Then eventually Steve's Dystonia and Myoclonus just became too bad and could not work any longer. We would still see Andrew from time to time, often when he was out working. We would often drive past the truck as it wasn't parked that far away from where we live. We started to notice that the truck wasn't going out very often, then not at all. We were worried about Andy's business as removals can be a bit cut-throat, especially around this area as there a quite a few removal companies based here.
Steve decided to reach out to some of Andy's friends and family to find out if the company had gone belly up only to be told that his cancer had come back and he died in early February. We had no idea and no one had told up. As you can imagine, Steve and I are pretty upset. If we had known he was sick, we would have visited him. His three adult children never thought to tell any of his friends, and they only found out weeks later. As much as I know that Andy could be difficult when it came to the business and could drive Steve crazy, they were still good friends and I was fond of him. We are really going to miss him.
