My Week

It's been pretty busy week, I spent Tuesday with one of my granddaughters. Her mum had to work so we went to Cabramatta for the day. It was hard for me to get around though as I hurt my right knee and I had to use a walking stick. We did have a lot of fun though. I also spent Saturday with three of my granddaughters. We went bowling together and despite my sore knee, I did pretty well. I love bowling, it's one of the few things I am actually good at. LOL.

I spent the next couple of days at home, I am still adjusting to the Methoblastin, but it is getting better. It's not making feel nauseous anymore and the dizziness is gone, thank god.

The weather is getting colder so Steve and I have been getting our winter clothes out. I don't think we will be going to the snow this year. Petrol and diesel is still so high so we will probably be spending a few day at the Central Coast, maybe Nelson Bay. They are closer and really lovely to stay. I think it might be better for Steve and I to stay in a warmer area like the Central Coast.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Well, summer is well and truly over, and we are well into Autumn. I love Autumn, it's my favourite month. The weather has definitely turned colder, and we are getting our winter clothes out now. The sun is still out, though, so I am hoping we will get that beautiful Australian winter with lots of clear blue skies and fresh breezes.

I traveled out to Fairfield West to attend my granddaughter's music performance. She was playing guitar. I was so proud of her. I am so glad to see her thriving in high school. It was also my grandson's and my granddaughter's birthdays. They are all growing up so fast.

The new medication is really kicking me hard. I have to take it every Wednesday, and it makes me sick to my stomach. One good thing, though, it is only once a week. I don't know how I am going to go when I have to increase it next week. I am not looking forward to it. Having PsA really sucks.

Well, I hope everyone has a great week.

I saw the Rhumatologist at St George Hospital this week. It turns out I have Psoriatic Arthritis. It is similar to Rheumatoid Arthritis, but this attacks your skin cells as well as causes inflammation and swelling of the joints. As much as I am not happy to now have an autoimmune disease, I am happy I finally have an answer to all the health problems I have been having. The excess fluid and swelling in my hands and feet, my finger and toenails pitting and lifting off the surface, and all the aches, pain, and stiffness.

The doctor has put me on Methoblastin as an immunosuppressant. I have to take folate as well to protect myself from any possible side effects from the Methotrexate.

So now I have to have monthly blood tests and X-rays, (not monthly) as well as hydrotherapy and psychotherapy. Thank god all this is covered by Medicare. The PBS also covers the medication, I can even get the folate on the PBS as well, so it is only $5.00 instead of $20.

On happier news, I met up with a good friend of mine for lunch and we had a lovely day together. She gave me a Chucky elf and a blue eye bag charm. We promised to make our lunch dates a regular thing in the future.

I hope everyone has a great week.

Okay, where do I start? Well, I had my bank card scammed. Someone had hacked into my granddaughter's Roblocks account and made several purchases. mall ones, but they added up to nearly $200. The bank alerted me and blocked my card. Hopefully, I will get the money back. I am so pissed off, though. Not a great end to the week, but the staff at the bank were really helpful though. This is the first time this has ever happened to me. Hopefully, it will be the last.

The rest of the week has been good though. Steve and I have been enjoying the good weather. We took the remote-controlled cars out and had fun. I love Voodoo Point. It is one of the most beautiful in The Shire.

Steve and I are planning on going to Melbourne for a few days, there is a blues festival, and we are hoping to go. We want to go down there while the weather is still warm. Melbourne gets so cold in Autumn and Winter.

I hope everyone has had a good week.

Where do I start? This week has been insane. it all started when we decided to adopt a dog and a cat from a shelter that rescues animals. Seve had seen George the dog on their website and was told that he was available for adoption. So far so good. We bought toys, food, a collar and lead and a bed for him, we drove out to the shelter, did the meet and greet and we were about to adopt him when another woman who worked there came up and told us that the dog was promised to someone else. The workers had no idea about this and they were pissed off.

A woman had been making inquiries about George and had been calling them for a week, she was making up her mind whether she wanted to home him or not. We were told she was going to make her mind that afternoon, needless to say, she decided not to home him, so we have did. At the same time we adopted a beautiful calico cat we called Cindy.

We got Cindy home a week later than George because she had to be desexed. We get her home, had her settled, then she suddenly leaps out of the laundry window and runs off.

I searched everywhere for her. I spent the whole week looking for her, worrying myself sick. She ended up planting herself on my downstair neighbours balcony. I managed to catch her and bring her home, only for her to escape and go straight back to my neighbour's place. My neighbour is a lovely person, she has two cats of her own and she is happy to have Cindy. technically she is still my cat, but she is living on my neighbour's balcony. I will buy her cat food to pay for her room and board. LOL. We rehomed a beautiful ginger and white cat from the same shelter and she is happy and settled with us, so we have two cats but only one living with us.

Honestly, you can't make this crap up. I am happy that Cindy is safe and cared for although I am feeling a little hurt that she rejected us so quickly. I guess she prefers to be outside, but she is microchipped and desexed so there's that.

Hopefully the rest of January will be less eventful, fingers crossed.

Ours was nice and quiet, all the family were away, one daughter was down in Canberra with her very pregnant bestie. My son was working over Christmas in Queensland. It was probably the most relaxing day Steve and I have had this year. No having to drive from house to house. We got to see all the family before Christmas no no mad dashing about.

Boxing Day was at my sister's place. It was lovely I got to see my godson and his partner. I haven't seen them in so long and it was great to catch up with them.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and hoping the new year brings nothing but good things.

As you can imagine, we are all reeling from what happened in Bondi. My heart is broken but I am not going to let this define who we are. Australians are resilient and we will not let this tragedy change who and what we are.

Having said that, Steve and I are thinking of going away for a few days. We were thinking of going into the mountains for a few days after Christmas. I think a break from the city would be nice and the weather has been beautiful. We have been doing a lot of walking, Steve has special crutches that help him with his balance. we are lucky to live near bush and national parks so there are plenty of walking tracks. We love going bush as it is so calm and peaceful.

We have all our Christmas stuff done, all we need to do now is do the groceries and bits and pieces. It will a quiet one which is what we want.

I hope everyone has a great week and a wonderful holiday season.

Steve and I have been going out a bit more now that the weather has gotten warmer. We have been taking the RC cars out as well as swimming and going for short walks.

Speaking of the weather, bushfire season seems to have already started with a fire down the South Coast in Sanctuary Point. I was worried it was heading towards where my younger daughter lives, but they got it under control. The weather is so dry and hot I am worried. Hopefully it won't be so bad this year. On the upside, walking through the bush and seeing all the wildlife, the flowers and the birds, it is wonderful. I noticed the heron is back again, I think there might be a nest near the creek, but I am not sure. I saw some Pelicans on the water in Yowie Bay, I was hoping they would come in closer to the sand bar but they didn't. It was nice seeing them floating around though like plump sailboats.

Well I am nearly ready for Christmas, it will be a quiet one which will be nice. Boxing Day is going to be at my sister's place. That is a tradition now, and New Year's Day is going to be a barbecue at home. Nice and simple, the way I like it.

I hope everyone has a great week.

I am trying to get ready for Christmas, but every time I make a start, something happens and I end up having to do something else instead.

I have started my shopping. This year, it is going to be easier as I am only shopping for the grandkids. We are such a big family, there is no way I can afford to buy for all the adults. I think our Christmas will be a quieter one, as my older daughter is going out of state to stay with a friend until the new year. My son is back in Queensland for work, so sadly, we won't be seeing him as well.

Summer has definitely arrived, and it is so hot now. I have started swimming in the rock pools again. Steve and I have also been taking the RC cars out for some fun. He has joined an RC car club, and they meet every couple of weeks to get together and have fun. I have to admit that I have been enjoying it more than I thought I would.

Other than the RC cars, I have been watching all my old favourite movies and catching up on some of the new series I have been getting into. I really should do a Geeky Girl post, but things have been so hectic. Steve is due to be fitted for a new wheelchair, and I have to go for some more tests. I don't mind getting older; it is just all the medical crap that goes along with it. Thank goodness for Medicare and the NDIS, or we would never be able to afford it.

I hope everyone has a great week.

I hope everyone had a fun time. Steve and I went to The Rocks for a Halloween fair. It was even better than last year. We dressed up as a steampunk couple again. I noticed there were a lot more people who were in costumes this year. I am glad that these kind of events are happening in and around Sydney. For a while, it felt like Sydney was so quiet. It is wonderful to see life being injected into the city again.

We had an early dinner at Spice Alley near Broadway. It is a great collection of Asian eateries with wonderful outdoor seating. It is one of our favourite places in the city. I had the crispy pork belly, and Steve had a Thai dish with beef. It was delicious.

Today is our 10th wedding anniversary and also my eldest daughter's 41st birthday, so it really is a special weekend.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween and Day Of The Dead. Now to start getting ready for Christmas.

This week has been so busy for both Steve and myself. Once again, it was mostly medical appointments, but we managed to fit in some fun stuff like taking the RC cars out and taking a drive to Goulburn for lunch.

We both had our annual eye tests and I need new distance and reading glasses. No sign of glaucoma but my cataracts have thickened so I am going to have to get them done. It's covered by Medicare so it won't cost anything. I only have to pay for the glasses and they were on special so thank goodness for that.

Saturday was fun, it was a birthday for two of my granddaughters. We took them to the pool. lunch at Maccas and them back home for birthday cake. The kids had so much fun and they loved the bead bracelets I made for them. It was a great day but getting out there was interesting to say the least. I didn't take the car because Steve was going out and I like taking the train. There some trackwork so I got off at Cabramatta station to get picked by my son in law. There were police everywhere, a section of the street outside the station was taped off. There had been a fight. I don't know the details, but it must have been a bad one. I missed all the excitement thank god.

I hope everyone has a great week. Take care.

I finished the book that was chosen, A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J Maas. I have to be honest, this is not a book that I would normally read, but I found myself enjoying it. When my daughters finish their copies, we will start on the next in the series. I also watched Good Boy, and it hit me right in the feels. I love animals, and seeing this really made me appreciate how much dogs love us, and they ask so little in return. It makes me miss having a dog and a cat. The unit we are in is big enough, but there is no backyard. We do back onto a small reserve, but we are looking to move to a downstairs unit, so we might look at getting a dog and a cat if we do.
The new medication is still kicking my butt. I am losing weight and I feel very tired. Apparently, it is a common side effect, so I am hoping that I will finally adjust. I hate feeling so flat all the time. It also seems to be affecting concentration as well. I had dinner at my daughter's house last night, and she pulled out a board game called Murdle. She and my niece were both explaining the rules, and I just couldn't follow it. I ended up noping out. It looks like fun, but I just could not concentrate. Still, it was fun watching everyone else getting confused with it as well, although they worked it out in the end. Give me Cluedo any day, LOL.
ladymidath: (Default)
It's nice to have a slower week after looking after my granddaughter and taking her to Oz Comic Con. We had so much fun, and she wants to go to Smash and SupaNova as well. As much as I enjoyed it, it is good to be able to put my feet up and have a rest. I guess I am starting to feel my age.

I have been catching up on my reading, and I have started to go through some of my stuff to either store or throw out. I keep putting it off, but Spring is here, so I am determined to get some spring cleaning in. I have also started my new diabetes medication, and I think that is making me feel a little tired as well. I am sure as I get used to the medication, the tiredness will ease up.

The weather is really warming up, and it's nice to see all the flowers starting to bloom. I watered and re-potted some of my pot plants. I need to buy some more potting mix and a couple of hanging baskets.

Not much else has been happening. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
ladymidath: (Default)
I went back to the doctor, and I now have to go to the hospital to see a Rheumatologist. The doctor still thinks I may have Rheumatoid Arthritis. The blood tests were not conclusive, so I have to have further tests.

I have started my Diabetes medication for the insulin resistance as well, so hopefully that will help get that under control. I have tried doing it with diet, but it does not seem to be working, so hopefully the medication will.

On a happier note, though, the weather here is so much warmer now that we are in Spring. All the flowers are starting to come out, and the breeze feels so much warmer. I went for a walk down to the beach and noticed how all the gardens are starting to bloom. I love this time of year.

I hope everyone has a great week.

It has been a while since I have posted anything. Things have been so busy, more medical appointments and more blood tests for my cholesterol and blood sugar.

Things seemed to have stabilised, so that is good. I have been walking more; winter here has made me lazy. I love walking and swimming, but this winter has been so cold and wet, I prefer to snuggle under my doona and watch movies on my laptop.

The weather is slowly warming up, and I can feel that hint of spring in the air. Steve and I went to Cronulla yesterday, the beaches were a lot busier than I thought they would be, another sign that the weather is warming up.

Other than this, not much has been happening. I hope everyone has a great weekend.
ladymidath: (Default)
Steve and I went to a disability expo at Homebush. We went on the Friday, so it was not as busy as we thought it was going to be. It was good, but there did not seem to be as many booths as there were last year.

We have another, smaller expo coming up, but I don't think we are going to go.

We have had so much rain here the last few days, and it has been freezing cold. That is why Steve and I have been staying home a little more. There were huge snowfalls in areas that had not seen snow in fifty years. The locals were having so much fun building snowmen and turning golf courses into ski slopes.

I do have a few things coming up, a concert with my grandkids performing, and a birthday for one of my younger granddaughters.

Well, that's about it, I hope that everyone has a great week.

I'm Back

Steve and I decided to take a break and go to Melbourne. We drove down and stayed for four days. Now that my son has gone to Queensland to start his new job, we decided a break would be nice.

It was cold, but the weather was nice; we didn't get rain until we came to Sydney. I was a bit disappointed that the Victoria Markets were closed for renovations, they are my favourite markets, hopefully they will reopen when we go back there.

The weather here has been freezing cold and wet. Great weather for snuggling under the blankets and catching up on my reading. I finished Stepsister, which was great, and now I am planning on re-reading Rose Madder. Perfect for a rainy day.

Hope everyone has a great week.

I think I am finally over Covid, the flu, bronchitis, and a sinus infection. I still have a bit of a cough, but I am feeling so much better. I should get a t-shirt printed with I Survived This Autumn.

My son and I spent Friday night over at my daughter's house. The next day we went into the city and did some shopping. We also visited the markets. They have put in a new food section with some nice looking eateries. Steve and I are going there next week to pick up a few bits and pieces.

Son and I are going to see the new Superman movie this afternoon. I like James Gunn, so I have high hopes for the movie. It will be different from Zach Snyder, but I think it will be as good. I loved Man Of Steel, so I am curious to see how this interpretation will be different. I am looking forward to the new Fantastic Four movie as well.

I hope everyone is having a great week.
ladymidath: (Default)
Steve and I are snuggled up at home, waiting for a massive storm to hit. Right now, we are getting heavy rainfall and plenty of wind. The meteorologists are calling it a bombogenesis, which sounds scary enough. I am a little worried about the stuff we have stored in the garage, as it is under the unit block where we live. Hopefully, we won't get flooding down there.

I am finally getting over all the damned illnesses. This winter so far has been a write off for me. My son will be traveling to Queensland soon to start his new job, and I want to spend some time with him before he goes. So far, I have been so sick that we have hardly gone anywhere. I still have a couple of weeks before he leaves, so hopefully we can go out for lunch and a couple of drinks.

I hope everyone is having a great week.
ladymidath: (Default)
Yay, I am finally back on my feet. I am Bronchitis and Covid free. Steve and I went out last night. There is a club we like to visit, and we haven't been there in a while. It was fun, but we were tired and ended up leaving early. I guess we are not the party animals we used to be.

My son landed himself a new job in Queensland, and my daughter has become a support worker for an aged care provider. I am thrilled for them both, but I will miss my son when he moves interstate. He has been hired by a mining company to operate the heavy machinery. At least I will be able to drive up there for a visit.

Speaking of my son, we both went to see 28 Years Later. It was okay, but to be honest, I prefer the first movie. We still enjoyed it, though.

Winter is definitely here, the temperature has dropped, and we are already getting snow up in the mountains. Steve and I are going to Perisher and Thredbo later this month, and we will likely stay overnight in Tumut.

On another note, the latest episode of The Amazing Digital Circus dropped yesterday. The series is getting better and better. I am curious as to where the story is going to go now.

Well, that's about it. Have a great week everyone.
