My week

As you can imagine, we are all reeling from what happened in Bondi. My heart is broken but I am not going to let this define who we are. Australians are resilient and we will not let this tragedy change who and what we are.

Having said that, Steve and I are thinking of going away for a few days. We were thinking of going into the mountains for a few days after Christmas. I think a break from the city would be nice and the weather has been beautiful. We have been doing a lot of walking, Steve has special crutches that help him with his balance. we are lucky to live near bush and national parks so there are plenty of walking tracks. We love going bush as it is so calm and peaceful.

We have all our Christmas stuff done, all we need to do now is do the groceries and bits and pieces. It will a quiet one which is what we want.

I hope everyone has a great week and a wonderful holiday season.

I finished the book that was chosen, A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J Maas. I have to be honest, this is not a book that I would normally read, but I found myself enjoying it. When my daughters finish their copies, we will start on the next in the series. I also watched Good Boy, and it hit me right in the feels. I love animals, and seeing this really made me appreciate how much dogs love us, and they ask so little in return. It makes me miss having a dog and a cat. The unit we are in is big enough, but there is no backyard. We do back onto a small reserve, but we are looking to move to a downstairs unit, so we might look at getting a dog and a cat if we do.
The new medication is still kicking my butt. I am losing weight and I feel very tired. Apparently, it is a common side effect, so I am hoping that I will finally adjust. I hate feeling so flat all the time. It also seems to be affecting concentration as well. I had dinner at my daughter's house last night, and she pulled out a board game called Murdle. She and my niece were both explaining the rules, and I just couldn't follow it. I ended up noping out. It looks like fun, but I just could not concentrate. Still, it was fun watching everyone else getting confused with it as well, although they worked it out in the end. Give me Cluedo any day, LOL.

It's nice to have a slower week after looking after my granddaughter and taking her to Oz Comic Con. We had so much fun, and she wants to go to Smash and SupaNova as well. As much as I enjoyed it, it is good to be able to put my feet up and have a rest. I guess I am starting to feel my age.

I have been catching up on my reading, and I have started to go through some of my stuff to either store or throw out. I keep putting it off, but Spring is here, so I am determined to get some spring cleaning in. I have also started my new diabetes medication, and I think that is making me feel a little tired as well. I am sure as I get used to the medication, the tiredness will ease up.

The weather is really warming up, and it's nice to see all the flowers starting to bloom. I watered and re-potted some of my pot plants. I need to buy some more potting mix and a couple of hanging baskets.

Not much else has been happening. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

It has been a while since I have posted anything. Things have been so busy, more medical appointments and more blood tests for my cholesterol and blood sugar.

Things seemed to have stabilised, so that is good. I have been walking more; winter here has made me lazy. I love walking and swimming, but this winter has been so cold and wet, I prefer to snuggle under my doona and watch movies on my laptop.

The weather is slowly warming up, and I can feel that hint of spring in the air. Steve and I went to Cronulla yesterday, the beaches were a lot busier than I thought they would be, another sign that the weather is warming up.

Other than this, not much has been happening. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I think I am finally over Covid, the flu, bronchitis, and a sinus infection. I still have a bit of a cough, but I am feeling so much better. I should get a t-shirt printed with I Survived This Autumn.

My son and I spent Friday night over at my daughter's house. The next day we went into the city and did some shopping. We also visited the markets. They have put in a new food section with some nice looking eateries. Steve and I are going there next week to pick up a few bits and pieces.

Son and I are going to see the new Superman movie this afternoon. I like James Gunn, so I have high hopes for the movie. It will be different from Zach Snyder, but I think it will be as good. I loved Man Of Steel, so I am curious to see how this interpretation will be different. I am looking forward to the new Fantastic Four movie as well.

I hope everyone is having a great week.

Steve and I are snuggled up at home, waiting for a massive storm to hit. Right now, we are getting heavy rainfall and plenty of wind. The meteorologists are calling it a bombogenesis, which sounds scary enough. I am a little worried about the stuff we have stored in the garage, as it is under the unit block where we live. Hopefully, we won't get flooding down there.

I am finally getting over all the damned illnesses. This winter so far has been a write off for me. My son will be traveling to Queensland soon to start his new job, and I want to spend some time with him before he goes. So far, I have been so sick that we have hardly gone anywhere. I still have a couple of weeks before he leaves, so hopefully we can go out for lunch and a couple of drinks.

I hope everyone is having a great week.

Yay, I am finally back on my feet. I am Bronchitis and Covid free. Steve and I went out last night. There is a club we like to visit, and we haven't been there in a while. It was fun, but we were tired and ended up leaving early. I guess we are not the party animals we used to be.

My son landed himself a new job in Queensland, and my daughter has become a support worker for an aged care provider. I am thrilled for them both, but I will miss my son when he moves interstate. He has been hired by a mining company to operate the heavy machinery. At least I will be able to drive up there for a visit.

Speaking of my son, we both went to see 28 Years Later. It was okay, but to be honest, I prefer the first movie. We still enjoyed it, though.

Winter is definitely here, the temperature has dropped, and we are already getting snow up in the mountains. Steve and I are going to Perisher and Thredbo later this month, and we will likely stay overnight in Tumut.

On another note, the latest episode of The Amazing Digital Circus dropped yesterday. The series is getting better and better. I am curious as to where the story is going to go now.

Well, that's about it. Have a great week everyone.

My son arrived from New Zealand, I am so happy that he is back, but we will all be happier when his partner and kids also come over as well. I know they are all missing each other, but he has started a new job, so he can start putting money aside. He is planning on going to Cairns where there are mining jobs. We have family up there so they won't be stuck in a place where they don't know anyone.

The health stuff is still ongoing, but I should get the results of the tests soon and then I will know more.

Luke and I went out to see his younger sister who lives down the coast, then on Sunday, his other sister came up to see us. We are all catching up after him being away for so long.

Other than that, we have been doing the usual day to day stuff. The weather has been warm but I can feel that whiff of Autumn in the air.

Cyclone Alfred touched ground and hit the Queensland and Far North Coast pretty hard. My sister lives up there but I don't think she was hit as hard as by the time it travelled down the coast, it had been downgraded to a tropical storm. It is rare for a cyclone to be so far down the coast as they usually occur in the top end or Western Australia. I just pray that the communities affected will recover soon.

It's been a quieter this week. Steve still had a few medical appointments but that is just life for us now. Steve is really getting on with his new support worker Nathan.

He comes out twice a week to take Steve to his appointments and shopping. Stuff like that. Nathan is a nice bloke and they seem to have a lot in common which is great. I am glad that Steve has a nice support worker so if I have to go away overnight, he has someone who he can call for help if he needs anything.

That is about it for now. Have a great week everyone.

It has been a pretty busy week. One of my grandkids had her birthday last weekend, she turned five so she had a mermaid unicorn party. It was a beautiful day so my daughter had the party outside, the wind blew up nearly knocking a little gazebo on top of me. Lucky for me that a couple of the dads were there to grab it or I would have been flattened.

Steve had his hearing test and has been approved for a cochlear implant. I am not sure he is keen on the idea but he is considering it. We spent most of the day at the hearing centre while he was being tested. After that we stopped at our favourite place for hamburgers and then went home.

The weather is getting warmer now so I think I will be spending more time down at the beach. As much as I like going to our local aquatic centre, I prefer the rockpools.

That's about it for this week
ladymidath: (Default)
Sorry I have not posted in a while, we have all been so busy. Steve's appointments and therapies are still going. We are going away for a few days up north where it will be a bit warmer.

I have been watching The Boys, I haven't read the comics but I am really enjoying the series. I am not sure if I am going to watch the spin offs though.

That's about it. Just a quick update.

Winter is here and of course, I have come down with the flu. I did test for the dreaded Covid, but it came back negative. I am on the mend but now Steve has it and he has been coughing and sneezing so much, it is setting his Dystonia off.

I also stayed overnight with my middle daughter last week as she had to have a couple of MRI scans. The nerves in her eyes are not working as they should be and it is causing her to have severe migraines and headaches. Hopefully, the medication the doctor has put on will work.

Steve gets his motorised wheelchair in a couple of days, he is excited because we will be able to take the train into the city. It's been weeks since we have been. Steve can't walk the distances any more and it is too difficult to take the motorised scooter. The wheelchair is compact and fold up like a pram so it will make life a lot easier.

What a week it has been so far, my grandson has pneumonia and my middle daughter had a huge problem with her realtor. She has moved in with her partner who owns his own home. The realtor came by to do the end of lease walk through and she was vile. She swore at my daughter and then locked her in the house, taking the keys with her. My daughter has put in a formal complaint and the real estate has taken care of it. Talk about unprofessional.

My grandson is recovering, I talked to him on the phone and he told me he was missing seeing his friends at school.

I have been going to the physio for my shoulder and it seems to be helping. I am so sick of the pain and not being able to move my arm properly.

The weather has been so hot and humid and we have had some really bad storms. Steve and I are looking forward to the cooler weather, although we are traveling up North to the tropics, but at least it will be Autumn so hopefully, the heat won't be too bad.
ladymidath: (Default)
Not a bad start to the week, the weather has cooled down a little, the humidity has been so bad the last month. The cooler breeze has been such a relief.

Steve and I have been up to our usual stuff, doctor appointments, etc. I have been having trouble with my right shoulder, arthritis, bursitis, and tendinitis. All the fun stuff. The doctor has given me anti-inflammatories but they don't seem to be working. I am going to the physio on Tuesday so hopefully that will help.

I enjoy going to Goulburn, it is a few hours away, but the drive is gorgeous. I spent the day with three of my grandkids. We took them to see Wonka which was okay, but nothing beats the original in my opinion anyway.

I did have a bittersweet moment with my two younger granddaughters. I have a couple of tattoos. One is a memorial tattoo for my son Jacob who died when he was only ten. The girls have an older brother who was named after his uncle. They thought it was for him and I tried to explain that it was for their uncle who was taken before they were born. I think they became a little confused so I let it go. They will understand when they are older but I hope they don't think Nana is playing favourites because I don't have their names tattooed on me.

It was a lovely day and the drive back was really nice. The weather has been scorching so I have been spending all my free time at the beach. This is the upside of living so close to the coast. I have to be honest though, this year I have really been feeling the heat and I am looking forward to Autumn and cooler weather.

My youngest daughter has just turned 26 today. Yipes that makes me feel old.

Steve and I were planning on meeting her and her kids in Wollongong but she had to cancel at the last minute which is a shame, Steve and I were really looking forward to seeing her and the grandkids.

We decided to have a quiet day at home instead. well relatively quiet as we have been trying to sort out some NDIS stuff. It is due to rollover, so of course it isn't l going to be smooth. Still, it will get work out.

Everything else has been peaceful. I finally found time to have a swim at my favourite place and I managed to spend some time with one of my granddaughters as well. That was fun.

I hope everyone has had a good week.

With all the medical appointments for Steve and now me. We went to our doctor the other day, and it turns out I have bursitis in my right shoulder and arthritis in both my hands and knees. The cold weather has been making it so much worse. I will be glad when it becomes warmer. I spent yesterday with my middle daughter and my grandkids. we had a lovely day. Next week we are visiting my youngest daughter and her family. I have been trying to catch up with friends that we haven't seen for a while simply because we have been so busy with appointments and medical stuff. We are catching up with a couple of our friends for dinner tonight. I am looking forward to it, it's been ages since I have seen them.

Some new people have moved in underneath us in the ground floor unit and they have the cutest little dogs. I do miss having a dog and cat, but we are away so much, it's not really feasible. I think when we start slowing down, then I might get another dog and cat. I do have all my pot plants to keep me busy though.

I'm Back

Steve and I had a lovely couple of days up in the Central Coast. I have a friend that I used to work with and it was her birthday. We had dinner together at Ettalong Diggers Club on Saturday and it was really nice.

The weather was lovely, warm for this time of year, but it is up north, I even got a little bit of swimming in. The drive up there was not too bad, but coming back we got all the traffic. I like driving, but I hate it when it's bumper to bumper. We are back home now, but we are planning to drive back up there in a few weeks.

This week should be a bit lighter, Steve has a few medical appointments, we are also going to a disability expo in the city. It's free entry and Steve got the tickets online. I should be pretty interesting.

Other than this, there's not much happening. My three year old granddaughter had an accident last night. She was jumping on the bed and came off, hitting her head. Her mum took her to the hospital and they glued the cut. I spoke to her and she was so excited because she had a trip to the emergency room. I love preschoolers, they get excited about everything.
ladymidath: (Default)
But hopefully, I will be able to step off. I had a telehealth conference with a gastro health doctor and now I have to go to the hospital to get several tests done.

Blood tests, a stomach x-ray a colonoscopy, and an endoscopy just to begin with. The doctor thinks it may be my pancreas so I need to have the tests done. She wants me to do it through the hospital so she can access the results. She sent me all the paperwork so I am heading to the hospital on Monday to book the tests.

Steve and I were planning on going back up north but until I can get the tests done, I am afraid we aren't going anywhere.

On some happier news though, my youngest daughter has moved down the coast, she hated where she was living and I think she is much happier where she is now. I helped her to do the end-of-lease cleaning, and I dropped the keys back off for her as she had to get back home. Steve and I are taking the train down to visit her and the kids tomorrow.

We also found a cheap meat market as well. We had been going to Kemps Creek, but this one is near Toongabbie at Pendle Hill, they have a good-sized deli and fruit and veg section as well plus a nice cafe. This is going to be our new go-to for green groceries and meat plus free-range eggs.

The weather is definitely cooler now, I love Autumn, it's my favourite time of year. Hopefully, we will have some nice clear days so we can take a drive to the mountains, that would be great.

My Week

Not much has been happening, I got my blood tests back and they were fine. My glucose resistance has gone, (thank god) but my cholesterol is up a little, I need to step up the exercise and watch what I eat. Steve sees his new neurologist next week, we thought it was this week. I am also feeling a little sad as it was my mothers' birthday. She would have been 93.

Monday Steve and I went to Glen Davis which is a ghost town in the mountains. We visited a beautiful place in Wollemi National Park, a place I haven't been since I was a kid. I was amazed that after all this time, it was nearly unchanged. We had a little bit of car trouble on the way back, we are hoping that it was just a batch of bad diesel. Our Mitsubishi Pajero has been such a reliable car so I am hoping it's nothing major. I sincerely don't want to buy another car, I love this one so much so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
