Geeky Girl Post:In A Quandary Over Superman

Okay putting this under a

I just recently found out that famed sci-fi author Orson Scott Card is going to be writing A DC Superman title.

Great right?

Hmm, normally I would be thrilled, the author of Ender's Game, one of the best Sci-fi books out there is going to writing one of my favourite comic books. Only Card happens to be a virulently outspoken anti gay proponent. So not so great. :-(

According to The Daily Beast, Card is going to begin writing a Superman digital comic in in April. It will later be published in mainstream comic book format later.

So to my quandary...My daughter has just been the victim of a vicious campaign to oust her from her unit and out of a special young mother's program because of her sexuality. I have seen this kind of bigotry first hand and now one of my favourite DC character's is going to be written by a man who supports NOM and has actually written an article stating that that gay marriage will be the end of democracy. May I add that I did not know that Card was anti-gay and that he supports these anti-gay groups.

WOW!

Now I want to add that everyone has the right to their opinions and if Card really thinks this way then he certainly has the right to voice them. But I also have the right to not buy his work.

I have decided to boycott Superman until someone else takes over the title. Which I hope is soon.
