Views From The Edge

Steve and I decided to take a short break and we drove to Canberra which is our capital city. A lot of people think that Sydney is, but it's Canberra in the ACT. Despite the heat here, it hit 5 degrees in the mountains and it nowed after we left. We tried to get to the thermal pool but the track was too steep for us. I have a bad knee right now and with Steve's Dystonia, he can't walk on uneven surfaces, there are days he can barely walk on even surfaces. The drive was beautiful and it was still worth it. We stayed in one of our favourite motels. It looks like there are new owners now, they were nice but they no longer do the buffet breakfast and the dining room is closed. They only do room service or takeaway. The food was good though, Steve had the chicken schnitzel and I had the steak and chips.

The reason I have a bad knee is because I went for a swim in the rockpool, the tide was in so the water was really rough. I got hit by a huge wave and washed over the pool wall. I landed on the rocks and banged myself up pretty well. A very nice man helped me back over but my legs and hands are really scratched up and my left knee is hurting like crazy. I am slowly on the mend though.

The trouble is, when you live near beaches like I do, you can get too careless. We had a very tragic drowning here not long ago. As my dad used to say, always watch the ocean and never take it for granted.
